The Dual Aspect of Value
The value of a commodity is defined as socially necessary labor time. In order to be a value, it has to be useful - and that's where the link between supply and demand comes into play. Marx was not interested in what happens when supply and demand are in equilibrium but rather how they're fixed by this social necessity.
