A hundred per cent of the general population has intrusive and disturbing thoughts, images or ideas. So what's called for here is self compassion and a non judgmental nature. Don't fight with them. That's what keeps you in the stress cycle. Let it come. Let it go. But be kind to yourself as you are working your way out. You want remember these are unwanted thoughts.
