Executive functions typically are strained for the first time in middle school. You can be up to two to three to four years behind in your executive function skill development, even though you have the high like you in the class. Parents don't have the advantage that teachers have. Teachers see a whole classroom of kids. Parents really just see their child. Remember, executive functions have nothing to do with level of intelligence.
