The first ancient society of mesopotamia is the early astic period sumerians, who lived in southern mesopotamia. After the gemdetnazze period ended in around two thousand 900 b c e, sumerian city states developed healthily for over 500 years. Sagon the great led an acadian uprising in the north and marched down into suma to establish an acadian empire from around the year 23 34 b c e. This would last for around a hundred and 50 years before relatively uncultured and nomadic goote people invaded from the area of the zagros mountains in the northeast in around 22 hundred b ce.
