The Story of Eunice and Nina Simon

Eunice never sings in public. She just plays the piano. And if her devout mother finds out she is playing in a place of sin, she would have a fit. Nina becomes friends with playwright lorraine hansbury. Lorraine teaches her what it means to be black and the struggle for civil rights. Medgar waley evers dies less than an hour after being hit in the back by a bullet. Three months later, in alabama, four little black girls are killed in a church bombing. Nina simon writes her first protest song. It flows out of her like the mighty mississippi river. Its righteous anger demands to be heard.
