The Benefits of a UBI for Care Work

Rooka Bragman: A UBI would help remunerate care work, which we don't do. But I suppose there's a distinction between giving cash payments to certain categories and everyone else. It takes 16 to 18 years to have something resembling a fully functioning adult - that's overwhelmingly done by women. And they are in no way rewarded for that or even, like I say, remunerated. The argument for basic income is to say this will allow more care work to be done.
