A Golden Age by Tamima Anam mainly takes place over nine months in 1971. In East Pakistan, there was a lot of unrest because they felt that West Pakistan were bullying them politically and economically. As a response to that, there's war which ends with the aid of India on the side of what would become Bangladesh. Dona Leon: For me, it was a fantastic history lesson. I didn't know anything really about the birth of Bangladesh.
