The UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution on Request for an Advisory Opinion on the Obligations of States in Respect of Climate Change
On March 29, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on a request for an advisory opinion of the international court of justice. The question that they were asking in this particular resolution was really about the obligations of states in respect of climate change. An advisory opinion is jurisdiction set up under the United Nations Charter under Article 65 of the International Court of Justice statute. It gives the court the power to give an opinion but it's not binding.
