The way that New York City was founded was basically not by a religious group it was by a corporation, the East India company and they just had an outpost there on Manhattan. They did not allow Peter Stuyvesant, which was the governor at the time to refuse Jewish immigrants Portuguese Jews to come in. He wanted to cast them out because you know Jews are not supposed to live together with Christians, etc. And so that was the germ that founded one of the greatest cities on the planet today,.
