I feel that i'm not as deep in that space as you, but looking in from the outside, it feels very much like python is the primary way which a lot of this machine learning stuff is done. The syntax was easy to understand. There're a lot of good resources. And then there's countod this like snowball effect, where more people know pythons,. There's more tetorials about python. There's more libraries about pythot and it's just more popular of the language.
