The Cost of Maintaining Advanced Equipment in the US Military
The Chinese are already feeling the effects of fielding aircraft carriers, stealth fighters and other advanced platforms over time. We found that to be the case for the United States military when it starts to acquire all sorts of advanced equipment - maintenance costs certainly go up. So the real vulnerability in a Chinese plan to conquer Taiwan is the surface ships. It's the same vulnerability as the US. And I would encourage the Taiwanese to build out their fleet of anti-ship missiles so they could sink as many amphibious ships as possible.
