In Our Time: Culture

CHAPTER

Mauriceau's Decoration of Interiors

Mauriceau's work is filled with the joys of life, but she also writes about wanting to capture something of what goes by. She uses decoration in a very interesting way and I think that hasn't been studied quite enough in impressionism. We'll also see it in the couches, the sofas, because we have new types of furniture, which are arriving in France. This is the era of mass production. You almost feel like it could be there. It feels comfortable. Would you agree with her? One word: Sexism.
