Most of these patients will be on inhalers. Assume the patient has COPD, and also assume the patient has coronary artery disease unless you're told otherwise. In terms of preoperative sedation, it's a fine balancing act. Patients who are very anxious with severe obstructive pulmonary disease can end up hyperinflating themselves.
