Madahari dabbled in sex work and circus writing before Reinventing herself as the exotic dancer Madahari Taking elements of javanese dance that she had observed in Indonesia and combining them with well-known Orientalist stereotypes Madahari crafted a performance that she claimed was an authentic Hindu temple dance.
