Is There a Better Way to Manage the Public Sector?
If you're a unit of 150 people, then even if everyone is seeing their wages increase, it's 150 times whatever the increase is versus 100,000 people times. It's when you get enormous hierarchies and you employ bureaucrats in the middle. And neoclassical theory, even though it's completely ignorant of all that stuff, strengthens the hand of those at the top and weaken those at the bottom.
