Paul to the colossians says that if you were raised with christ, seek what is above. Don't read that as a puritanical way - Paul's a good jew and loves this world. He found all it very good. So this is not a flight from the world but an attitude of detachment. If i keep my eyes fixed on christ, that which is above, then listen,. Then i will know how to handle the goods of the world as they come to me. I've known some very wealthy people in my life who are saintly. It's that wealth in itself that's the problem. But they know what to do with their wealth.
