The Effect of Peroxetine or Quatypine With Oxycodone on Ventilation During Hypercapnia

Opioids can cause severe respiratory depression by suppressing feedback mechanisms that increase ventilation in response to hypercapnia. This study examined whether combining peroxetine or quatypine with oxycodone decreases the ventilatory response tohypercapnia. Additional investigation is needed to characterize the effect after longer-term treatment and to determine the clinical relevance of these findings.
