The Riff Is the Heart of the Song
This riff is really the heart of the song in a lot of different ways. There's a lot of nice double bass drum stuff going on here too. The rift is really the thing that feels to me like a giant leviathan rearing up out of the depths of the ocean. They are using the diminished scale for theire using a diminished seventh cord in order to build this entire rift.
