The Existence of a Public Banking System Does Generate Resilience
India's public banking system does generate a certain degree of resilience. How the public banks work is dependent not just on the fact that they are owned by the state but it also depends on the nature of that state if the state is pursuing a policy which encourages speculative activity then you'll get non-performing assets and what did we do? We actually push that onto the shoulders of current and future taxpayers so this can never happen in India.
