The Ellis Act and the Importance of Rent Control

There's a bunch of like loopholes in the Ellis Act. Keep it vacant for like two years and then you can re let it. So, okay, fine. You don't want to evict this tenant and, you know, skirt around rent control,. Then fine, but you have to sit on it and not make any money for a certain period of time and just eat your losses. And some people do that. Some people have. But what I will tell you is that because of that, he's coming to a tremendous amount of scrutiny and people are really upset. Unfortunately. It does mean that rents go up and there is affordable housing and benefits that are requirements.
