Machine Learning Is Like Putting in Garbage Data

The key here is that machines need vast amounts of data, right? So where does this data come from? Yeah, no, it's a great question. And yeah, there's this tenet in machine learning called garbage in garbage out. If you put in garbage data, your machine is going to basically be producing garbage for you too. But it's also biases. And the type of data you're training on will inform your outputs in ways that you might not even realize. It's really like holding up a mirror to ourselves in some cases, not the prettiest part of ourselves.
