How to Design a Floating Interconnect System

A lot of thought has gone into how this connection is actually made. We knew fairly early we couldn't rigidly connect, rigidly mount these cable backplane connectors to the rack,. or that again with sheet metal tarlances stacking up. The potential for misalignment actually engage was extremely low. So we designed a floating system so that within the, the actual, the cable cartridge that attaches to the back of the cubby floats mechanically - it's up to two millimeters.
