Deuteronomy and the 10 Commandments

Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 have different lists of the 10 commandments. This suggests that under Deuteronomic influence, some older stories were updated to reflect later concerns or interests. In Exodus, the reason for the Sabbath command is to rest as God rested on the seventh day of creation; in Deuteronomy, it's because Israelites had no rest after being enslaved in Egypt.
