The Subversiveness of Christianity
By the fifth century Christianity was now the established religion of the Roman Empire. How does that even happen? Well, there's a historian named Will Durant and in volume three of his epic 11 volumes on the story of civilization, he says this: There is no greater drama in human record than the sight of a few Christians scorned and oppressed by a succession of emperors bearing all trials with fierce tenacity. So apparently people really were indeed attracted to Christianity like kids are to cake. We have to ask this question, what is it that makes Christians and Christianity so subversive and attractive at the same time?
