The History of the Polygraph Test

Wired reporter Amit Katwala explores the history of the polygraph's tests earliest days and how it came to exist in the first place. Back in the 1920s, a 29-year-old cop from Berkeley named John Larson came across a research paper by a Harvard psych major named William Molten-Marston. The theory came about when he was noticing his peer's heart rate and blood pressure rose anytime he asked them to tell a lie on purpose.
