The Alignment Problem Is Bigger Than Just AI
The alignment problem is much bigger than just setting up an AI with a goal to get you to click on this website. Historically, intelligence has equaled power that we've seen in the relationship of species on this planet or different groups of human beings at different levels of civilizational development. We're building these tools that may have more power than us and in a way it's very different from all previous technologies. All previous technologies were by construction subservient to humanity,. They couldn't think by themselves but now we're building machines that are thinking and we're seeing the early forms of that now.
