The Problem of Empathy
She was studying German and history at university, but she defined interest in psychology. She did doctoral studies under Husserl on the problem of empathy. Later became his secretary, collating his writings and preparing them for publication. In phenomenology, you have this focused attention to me as the personal subject experiencing the objective world. Stein recognized that a key feature of our experience of reality are other personal subjects experiencing the world together with us.
