Children's Reading Is a Gateway Drug

I think our gateway drug is audio books. I see that as the key thing, because if somebody listens to lots of stories read aloud, that person is far more likely to eventually become a skilled reader with his eyes. It doesn't matter what children read, it matters that they read. There's a danger that people try too hard to direct the reading choices of children. The risk of them coming across something harmful is very low compared to the risk of them not coming across anything at all.
