Halloween in America
Halloween is a festival that originated in the Celtic tradition of so-called Samhain which was then taken up in the process of the Christianization of Europe as all St. Stae or all Hallows Eve. It wasn't actually originally celebrated much perhaps unsurprisingly impure it in New England because they didn't celebrate anything. The modern version consolidated as a children's festival for the autumn before Christmas with families processing around their neighborhoods trick-or-treating and more sedate threats of minor vandalism.
