How Do You Learn to Take Notes?

i never learned to take notes in a high school or study, because i just sort of, i learned what i learned. So the methods i developed were really reactionary to solve problems i was having with doing my work. The first way i took notes and classes was just to pay attention,. I get distracted very easily, have trouble focusing on what's being said. It would be easier to do better if i paid attention, whether i took notes or not. And taking notes helps me pay attention.
