The History of the Mushroom Cult in Mexico

Maria Sabina was a shaman near Wahaka, Mexico. She was one of the first to share this shamanic knowledge with Westerners. When Spaniards came in, they ruthlessly suppressed the mushroom use and killed off the shamans saying they were doing the work of the devil. In Oaxaca, the shamans simply took it underground and practiced it in secret but just didn't tell anybody.
