Why Do People Not Want to Be Tracked?

The world splits into a few groups. It's the people that just want Google to know everything about you so that they have faster search results and all those things. Then there's the other extreme end, which is potentially people who grew up in countries where government monitoring was a real threat. And I think for the most part, the nefariousness of companies that are doing this sort of tracking is kind of overstated.
