The committee's financial disclosures show that it is mathematically impossible for the committee to have repaid Senator Cruz $250,000 using contributions made after the date of the election. They leave open the possibility that the committee instead repaid the loan in whole or in part using the $2.38 million in pre-election funds that it had on hand at the end of Election Day 2018. So we don't know whether the law and the implementing regulations don't actually prohibit Senator Cruz from repaying himself.
