The Importance of Stereotype Threat

Stereotypes threat is the idea that if something makes salient to you, some like negative stereotype about your group, that that will somehow make you anxious. So when they're taking an actual cognitive ability test like an SAT or GRE type of class, they do worse on that test when they're subject to stereotype threat. The classic study there was, and the researchers at Yale had college students do a word completion tasks for words that corresponded to being old. They actually measured how quickly they what they exited the lab, walked to a local nearby elevator and they want more solar. Now, it turns out that that study was what a failure to replicate that study is one of the foundations of psychologist
