The Sandaka Inquisition and Its Importance
The sandaka inquisition was not a general attempt to develop and enforce an orthodox version of islam. From the eighth to tenth centuries, there was a lively theological debate between different schools ofIslam. This was also the time when the four major suni schools of islamic law would develop. The different theological schools did not have the power to force their version of orthodoxy so they hurled insults at each other.
