The Importance of Ranking Your Preferences in Elections

I think Australia's got it. They've got compulsory voting, they've also got ranked choice voting. So instead of like in the UK, where you go in and you have to just pick one candidate in Australia, you can rank the order in which you prefer the candidates. And if your top candidate gets the fewest top votes, then your vote rolls down to the next one. I don't know if the barbecues with sausages are directly related to the compulsory voting, but I think there might be.
