The Effects of Pollen and Cat Fur on the Immune System
The immune system would have to alert you to a get the heck out of there and to be slowed down the circulation of that toxin in your blood. What they found is if you knock out the gene for IgE, so that class of antibodies that drives the allergic response, mice are much more likely to succumb to an anaphylactic event. Does that explain though the reaction to things like pollen and cat fur or is that a secondary effect? Secondary effect. And what it's found to do is pollen.
