Catholic social teaching in the Catholic church would indeed say that each individual person is a subject of infinite dignity, but not the creator of value. If I'm inventing value, I got my value, you got your value, let's just vaguely tolerate each other, then we can't love each other because love has to display itself as it were against the background of a hierarchy of objective value. Otherwise, I don't know what I should will for you. And social theory seems to me, stands a thwart the value-generating self and stands in favor of a Hierarchy of Objective Value both epistemic and moral. It does not advocate antagonism as the fundamental reality in the Marxist manner
