What Happens in the Middle of a Story?
A story will tend to be quite active at the beginning. It'll have a reasonable amount of action and lots of things going on. Once we've got the audience into the story, once we've attracted them with the action of the story, we then start to one-fold the characters. So what then happens is the pace of the action will slow down. Things will just happen, but the pace of action will slow in the middle because the meaning and the significance of the action is becoming clearer for viewers.
