The kinds of things that you want to hire for are people with a very strong internal locus of control. So the person who sits down in your extra desk for the interview and takes charge of the interview, probably someone who has a very stronginternal locus control youth. Another thing that's hard to change is someone's orientation to hierarchy. That tends to be pretty culturally imprinted in us either based on our sort of national culture we grow up in or maybe our early job descriptions.
