Vanity Fair Interview With David Lowry
i found it pretty surprising when i read vanity fair interview with david lowry. He says in this interview that he felt the need to change some of the premise of the story and to give more of a social explanation for why gawaine takes up the challenge. The answer the poem gives is for chivalry, honor and duty. But lowery wanted to make gawaine's motivation a little more external than that. So i found this whole paragraph, the quotation from lowery himself and the elaboration and explanation by the interviewer,. joanna robinson, to be strange and perplexing because i thought that all that psychological groundwork was already there in the original poem.
