There is a huge drive to get deep sea bed mining in gear, starting as soon as possible. The mineral deposits in the Indian Ocean will make India self-sufficient for nickel and cobalt. A lot of the metals that could be harvested from the sea are ones that go into batteries. In order to wean ourselves off fossil fuels, we're going to need more energy stored via batteries.
