Underfunding in General Practice
GP practices in deprived areas receive 7% less funding. They also have smaller workforces, 10% higher workloads and greater numbers of patients with complex health needs. The Health Foundation has said that the current GP funding formula effectively perpetuates inequality by failing adequately to recognize deprivation as a significant contributor to GP workload.
