JP Morgan Chase Bank bought First Republic Bank in late night negotiations mediated by the US Federal Reserve last weekend. It's not the first time after all that Chase has stepped in to purchase a distressed bank most prominently in the great financial crisis of 2008 when it bought Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual. We thought we would dig into the special role here played by JP Morgan Chase.
