Is There a Discrimination in Speaker Selection?
Loy: I've been thinking about a lot because we have been seeing more diverse speaker selection in word camps. Some people are comfortable speaking about those things in public and talking about it on social media, whereas other people keep their cards close to the chest if you like. Loy: It's just that some people, especially women and those in kind of marginalized communities are kind of always told women don't think of themselves as this expert. And so unless you physically go and say, Hey, your knowledge is something we need that at the table, we need that as a speaker, they're not going to do it.
