Deasa's Succession
The shaky anti-democratic system of the late Porfiriato was rocked in early 1908 by President Dehasa's sudden announcement that he was ready to step down. The men who composed the Deasa regime were so focused on undercutting each other that they missed the very real threat posed by Madero until it was too late. By the time Deasa gave his infamous Creolement interview, the problem of succession had been looming over Porfirian Mexico for almost two decades.
