Iran has seen regular waves of protests over the last 20 years. Yesha, Mohammed Razapalavi ruled Iran from September 1941 to February 1979. She says Iranians were deeply fed up by a political class that was distant and not reflective of popular will or demands.

The 22-year-old Iranian died in police custody after being arrested for wearing her hijab improperly. Her death has sparked a protest movement calling for the end of a regime that has for decades ruled Iran with an iron fist.
