Systemic Ischemia Repurfusion and Cardiac Arrest

Myocardial dysfunction has been associated with early mortality despite successful initial resuscitation in both children and adults. The combination of systemic ischemia repurfusion produces a state similar to the sepsis syndrome, activation of coagulation cascade pathways and inhibition of our anticoagulant pathways. Chacharythmias such as ventricular tachycardia noted in our patient are common during postcardiac arrest care but may be exacerbated by catheculamine administration.
