The child can grow up with an expectation, an unconscious expectation of abandonment is always possible in every relationship. So these children become as they grow up hyper vigilant in relationships and their sympathetic nervous systems become activated. They will gravitate towards partners who are emotionally or physically unavailable. Very often they'll gravitate to what's called avoidant partners, people who always have one foot out the door. And they're still expecting to be abandoned at any moment.
