Radio Telescopes - What's the Difference?
When it comes to telescopes, bigger is better. But they reach as a point of where building a bigger one becomes expensive and very difficult. A trick that you can use in radio is called interferometry. So if you measure your radio waves at different points and you measure them in phase with each other or what they call coherently,. then you can get away with making a lot of smaller telescopes for the same kind of area. That's really strong to be has its origins in the deep space network.
